On The Farm

With a trip to a farm for a Kindergarten field trip, we had lots of photos to scrap! October Afternoon's Farmhouse Line is so perfect with the farm theme and natural tones.
I used Paper Secrets sketch for inspiration...

Scrap Much? Colour Challenge

This month's color challenge at Scrap Much? was a springy refreshment in a fall season of browns.
I used some fun patterned papers from Heidi Swapp's Vintage Chic line for my layout.

Quick Quotes Friday Challenge 21

I love the versatility of black & white photos, especially if you have a large collection of paper to use. It lets the subject of your photo shine, while allowing you flexibility in your paper choices. The most recent challenge from Quick Quotes was to feature a black and white photo in your layout.
I used a fun fall photo from a pumpkin patch visit, and put the layout on a diagonal to add interest. I made little rosettes from scraps of the same paper and added some fun twine to "tie" it all together. :)

Time To Put Up The Tree!

While I haven't gotten around to putting up the tree in our house, I did create a fun little tree on my layout! With all the fun Christmas papers out there and a challenge from The Paper Girls to scrap something Christmas, I was inspired to get festive with some layouts scrapping photos from last Christmas! I used some pretty papers by Echo Park to create this layout of our family tradition of taking the Santa Train in Snoqualmie.
As part of Scrap It Girl's challenge, I made the tree. I trimmed some strips of paper, edge punched with a scallop punch, then scored and accordian folded them to create the tree.

Making Scrapbook Embellishments

It's so easy to rely on the ready made embellishments that are sold in and out of collections. Sometimes it's fun to go back to fussy cutting and folding to create your own embellishments! This collection by Prima features papers with various pieces to cut out and use on your pages.
I also handcrafted the pink flowers using my Cricut and some SVG files. And of course, more crepe paper!

I used Scrap Much? 's sketch for inspiration:

A Hoot of a Layout

I know, again with the owls. I found some awesome "vintage" Jillibean Soup paper at CKC Seattle at the DollarScrapbooking.net booth. The cute papers were just perfect for scrapping Hannah's owl themed birthday party.
I also used Scrap Much? color inspiration for the layout:

Authentique November Sketch Challenge

Catching up on last year's Christmas pictures is always easier when this year's Christmas lines hit the stores! I love Authentique's collections and their Christmas line, Festive, does not disappoint.
The November sketch challenge on their blog is a simple but fun sketch featuring banners:
It inspired this layout of last Christmas when I could not get a serious pose out of Jack, just rock star poses!

Mother of Boys Kit November Challenge

Sometimes scrapping boy pages can be a challenge, especially when it comes to embellishing. The Mother of Boys Scrapbook Kit Club blog always has inspiration. Their sketch challenge for November included the following sketch:
I used more photos and offset the circle a bit to change it up a bit for this layout of Jack visiting the turkey at Lattin's Cider Mill.
I used more of Echo Park's Fall Fever mini theme with it's warm fall tones.

Scrappy Friends Challenge

Echo Park has fed right into my recent obsession with owls with their Fall Fever mini theme line featuring, you guessed it, cute little owls!
The mini lines are so versatile giving you just enough stickers and papers without having to spend a bunch of money on a large collection. I used these for a layout of Jack on his class field trip to a local farm.

For this layout, I used GrandDiva's Creative Corner November sketch for inspiration:
I also did Rochelle Spears stash challenge, using a journal pocket which I made with a mini file folder on which the photo is mounted, chevrons in the wash tape, and metal in the brads.
I also did Kristi B's technique challenge, creating a border circle using brads.
And finally, I did Scrappin'n'Happy's challenge, using the following color scheme:

My Sweet Family

Many of this month's challenges have featured gratitude themes and since I didn't start a gratitude journal or list of something to be thankful for each day, I feel like doing several gratitude layouts was a perfect way to celebrate November without overwhelming myself. This layout features My Mind's Eye Lost & Found line, yes the older one which I've used before, but I picked up a bunch of sheets for 25 cents each at CKC Seattle!
This was part of For The Luv Of Art's Challenge blog, to do a layout about what you are thankful for, and I used my journaling to write about being thankful for my family.
I used C'est Magnifique Kits sketch as inspiration for my layout:

ScrapFIT's Step Class #10 featured creating a layered banner with two textures. I used pleated ribbon for one texture, corrugated cardboard for the triangle banner, and mesh for the two point banner.
I added a bit of paint to the triangle banner to bring out the texture. I also used beautiful thick crepe from Mon Ami Gabby to create my yellow roses. They sell rolls of it in rich colors and I bought six rolls at CKC to play with!

Some Queen & Co Goodies

I'm finally getting a chance to go through the bags of goodies I bought at CKC Seattle this past weekend! One of my favorite booths is always Queen & Co and while I still have felt strips and ribbon from last year, I was pleasantly surprised by the new trends they were featuring.
Of course they had bling, but the new styles and shapes were so pretty I had to pick up a few or ten.

The sparkly flowers were my favorite and we even used some of the little circle shapes in one of the classes.
They also had a large selection of their washi tapes and I loved the neutrals and picked up a few Christmas looking ones as well.

Finally, their trendy twine had such a fun selection with some featuring as many as three colors in the strands! They came on these cute wooden spools and at a dollar a piece, they were a steal!
