For the second challenge of April at Paper Secrets, the sketch featured fun strips with the twist of using wood elements.
I used a sweet picture from our Spring Break trip to the ocean of Jack checking out the ocean view.
I used strips of soft paper, burlap ribbon, and washi, and embellished with wood buttons and butterfly punches, titling it "let your mind soar."

Challenge Me Happy Challenge #44
I had fun playing with a monochromatic color palette, or should I say no-color palette since it was completely white!
I was inspired by this sketch from Challenge Me Happy....
I replaced the fleur di lis designs with flowers, and used dry embossed vellum for the banner pieces.

My Creative Sketches April Sketch
The sketch for April over at My Creative Sketches featured one of my favorite embellishments, banners!
I took advantage of the banners printed on Pebbles bright collection to create thin layout full of patterns and layers.
I made the flowers by cutting random circles freehand from the papers and layering them on top of each other, and adding a button to the center.

Scrap Much? sketch #4
For sketch #4 for April, Scrap Much? featured the following sketch...
I loved all the layering and the splattered mist which I used on my layout but slowly depressing the misting tip on my Glimmer Mist. I also used a doily and layered some black and white photos of Hannah.

Scrap Our Stash Sketch Challenge #2
Sketch Challenge #2 over at Scrap Our Stash featured the following multi photo layout...
It inspired me to create this layout of Jack's track meet using this fun mini theme collection from Echo Park, called Brothers.
I was also inspired this month by Scrap It Girl's challenge to use arrows or angels. I chose arrows which felt just right for this track layout.

Sketch N Scrap #31
The minimalist design from Sketch N Scrap this month inspired me to layer and mist to create dimension.
After misting my kraft background, I layered patterned papers and then added the cluster of photos on top.

Scrap Our Stash Challenge #2 Dots & Stripes
I love dotted and striped paper so I was super excited for Scrap Our Stash's Challenge this month!
The challenge included using one dotted paper and one striped paper in your layout, as well as a butterfly.
I used papers by My Little Shoebox to create this layout of the Hannahs after their school concert.
I used a school paper striped and mint green polka dotted paper for this challenge.
These were papers I dug out of my stash from last year for S.W.A.T.'s Dig Deep Challenge!

Paper Loft In the Zone
I loved discovering that Paper Loft has papers that coordinate for a two page layout! There is nothing like trying to match up patterned papers if the patterns are large and bold.
The In The Zone line included bullseye papers and when the A and B sides are put together, create a cohesive two page layout background.
I cut out the shapes from a third piece and popped them to add dimension to the patterns.
The elements sheets included quotes that were just perfect for our Girl Scouts!

C'est Magnifique April Sketch Challenge
For the month of April, C'est Magnifique Kit Club featured a sketch reminiscent of a buttoned up textile.
I cut my paper in the appropriate location to add brads as closures and even let a paper underneath peak out from the slit.

An April Fool's Layout
In honor of April Fool's Day My Mind's Eye challenge was to create a layout with a funny story. I created a layout featuring a picture I took of Jack's homework. He was assigned to write two sentences using the word "sing" and when I went to correct it, found the sentence, "I like to sing Green Day." I love my little Kindergartener!
I also used the sketch from Scrapbook Steals Midweek Mojo Amber #6:

April Showers Bring May Flowers
Challenge #29 at The Paper Girls Challenge Blog was based on April Showers Bring May Flowers.
The challenge was to use either raindrops, umbrellas, or flowers. I chose flowers and used tiny little roses on this very neutral layout, allowing the pinks to pop.
These pretty papers by My Mind's Eye were a soft palette for these baby pictures of Hannah.
