Some Fruity Color Fun
This month's color challenge with Color Me Scrappy uses fun fruity colors from this photo:
It inspired this layout of some summer fun at the Bremerton marina. I created the banner with triangles and twine and added a fun and playful title by having it swirl down the page.

Four Challenges In One!
For the month of September, four blogs combined efforts to create four challenges with a bonus prize if you combined challenges!
I used the sketch from GrandDiva's Creative Corner which featured a sketch by Page Drafts:
Color Inspiration from Scrappin'n Happy:
Technique challenge from Kristy B:
Painting chipboard letters and then stamping on them
And the stash challenge from Rochelle Spears using 3 patterned papers, masking, glitter.
And here is my layout combining all of these challenges!

Halloween Harvest
I love buying Halloween themed papers but never end up with enough photos from just the one day of Halloween fun to use all my papers!
One solution is to use those Halloween papers for other fall events. I used the beautiful papers from Authentique's Halloween line, Enchanted, for photos from the Puyallup Fair.
I was inspired by Paper Secrets sketch by Page Drafts:

Crafting Family Sketch Challenge
I love a PageMaps sketch and this month at Crafting Family they used a fun and simple sketch.
I used some BoBunny paper from the newest line which I won on their blog.
It features a fun fall harvest theme and the background paper had a cute scene that I didn't want to hide under a bunch of other papers. This sketch was perfect for that look.

Now and Then
Back to School means lots of pics outside the classroom and this year I did a fun comparison of Hannah on her first day of Kindergarten at Brigadoon Elementary, and this year, her first year of Fifth Grade, her last year at Brigadoon!
I used a sketch from Scrapping Everyday Miracles:

Basic Grey Sketch
This sketch from Basic Grey included lots of layers, perfect for fun patterned paper, and memorabilia:
I did this layout featuring the use of memorabilia for Scrap-Friendzy's challenge using memorabilia on a page, using the tag from purchases at the American Girl store. It also uses twine, arrows, circles, a bird, and the color red, for Scrap It Girl's challenge.

End of Summer Colors
I have been enjoying documenting the end of our late summer and what better way than the end of a day at the Puyallup Fair! The beautiful weather lent well to a spectacular sunset behind the scene of the rides.
To let the colors of the sunsets shine in this layout, I used the color inspiration from ScrapFIT's color inspiration workout...
I also used the sketch from Scrapbook Steal's Coral series...

The Boys
I have been trying to get more into masculine pages so I can get more layouts of my son Jack, done! It's always hard for me to not put flowers on pages so when I found these chipboard stars at Artco, I was thrilled since I could use them in a similar manner to flowers. I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist and added faux stitching to them.
I also used a sketch from Creative Scrappers to inspired my layout, using more ink to create the circles on the sides of the patterned paper.
For Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenge to scrap about a boy or man in your life, I used the opportunity to scrap Jack and his Grampie whom he loves so much!

Circles, circles, everywhere!
While I don't usually cut my photos into shapes, the most recent challenge at My Creative Sketches included many circle photos in the sketch.
I used some photos of Hannah as a baby for this layout with pretty papers from Teresa Collins line.

Scrapbook Steals MidWeek Mojo Pearl #10
The last in the Pearl series, this was a full and complicated sketch which is always a challenge for me! What I loved was all the strips which let me use lots of scraps from my stash of Basic Grey's PB&J line.
I did this layout of Jack riding his bike for the first time on his yellow and black bike, hence the title, Be Happy and the little bees on the layout!

Basic Grey Card Sketch Challenge
The sketch for Basic Grey's card challenge was a fun simple design that would work for many occasions:
I used some fun papers and embellishments from the PB&J line, and some butterflies punched from a coffee cup cozy, to make this card:

Easy Breezy
Sometimes the simplest additions make a basic layout look special. Misting a coordinating background is one way to enhance a basic layout. This quick layout I did was simple patterned paper, but I misted the background with coordinating ink to add some interest.
The color inspiration came from Color Me Scrappy's Challenge #11:
This was also part of The Paper Girls Challenge, Go Big using a large photo! Join in the fun at: http://thepapergirlschallenge.blogspot.com/

My Mind's Eye September Challenge
Continuing with the end of summer theme, I used some photos from a late summer farmer's market at the Bremerton Marina for My Mind's Eye September challenge, which was to document the end of summer.
I used paper from The Sweetest Thing line and to coordinate my letters, colored foam letters with Copic marker.

End of Summer
I have so many fun photos from summer and as the end drew near, going through the photos, the continuing theme of Hannah and one of he best friends also Hannah, was that they took their American Girl dolls everywhere!
I loved one where it looked like the doll was posing for the photo rather than the girls and I titled it, Doll Days of Summer, a play on dog days of summer.

Authentique Back to School Colors!
Back to School is in full swing and I'm getting my pictures scrapped...from two years ago! Better late than never, I love all the fun Back to School lines that come out and usually before September! I used the Curiousity line by Authentique for their color challenge, along with Paper Secrets sketch challenge for September.
The colors...
and the sketch by Page Drafts...
inspired this layout of Hannah on her first day of third grade.

Scrap Much? September Color Challenge
The colors for September's Scrap Much? color challenge reminded me of the end of summer sunset.
I used some pictures from one of our end of summer excursions for this layout using My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Tangerine line.

Scrapbook Steals Pearl #9A
This week's Scrapbook Steals sketch was unique and a challenge for someone like me who leans toward symmetry. The hexagons had an immediate draw for me though since it's a trend I have been loving!
I used my Cricut to cut out some hexagons from My Mind's Eye papers from The Sweetest Thing Tangerine line. I added some dimension by fussy cutting the flowers from one side of the paper.
I inked the edges, curled them up with an embossing stylus, and pop dotted them to the page. I then added yellow Stickles to the centers.
I recently found a new color of Glimmer Mist at Michael's and couldn't resist spritzing some of the Kiwi color onto my kraft background.
Some BoBunny ribbon, a pleated flag, and some butterflies punched from a Starbucks sleeve and I ended up with this take on the sketch:

BoBunny Country Garden
For the month of August, BoBunny hosted a card challenge with one of my favorite trends right now, chevrons.
I used the Country Garden line and created some chevron strips using a square punch.
I cut out butterflies from the patterned paper and then enhanced them with Stickles and Liquid Pearls trails.

Becky Fleck sketch challenge
A Cherry On Top had another Becky Fleck challenge this week with banners and brackets, and embellies!
I used papers and stickers from Lily Bee Design's Picket Fence collection for this layout of Jack on the Fourth of July.
I liked the classic look of gingham and calico prints and the bold stars were perfect for the theme and the boy page. I used wood round and star buttons that I found in the sewing section at Joanns, red and white twine, and a large manila tag to embellish the layout. The foam letters were from Sticko and the mini type stickers by October Afternoon.
